Rainy weather at our altitude, 800 meters. Above 1,000 meters it is supposed to be snowing, according to the weather report.
I have been using my new Handi (that's what they call cellphones here) to call my German relatives and chat. We are setting up visits for them to come here, or for us to go there. For some as-yet unknown reason, we haven't gotten Jim's cellphone to work yet. It will have to wait until Monday, because Motorola Customer Service is closed on weekends. Our VOIP phone is working great. My Handi-Nummer is: 0681-10852208 (from within Austria.) From elsewhere in Europe, add 0043 for Austria and drop the 0 in front of 681.
Jim and I took the cheesecake over to Frau Balogh this afternoon and had coffee and cake with her and her husband. Also Glenfiddich and wine! She lives in a several hundred-old farmhouse. She said it is the oldest farmhouse still standing in Oberperfuss. It is heated by stoves in each room. Frau Balogh is an artist and she showed us many of her works. She is quite good. She teaches art in Innsbruck. On the way back we stopped off at Frau Schmid's house and gave her the rest of the cake. She was quite happy to have it and said she would bake us an Apfelstrudel in return. My cheesecake (an Emeril Lagasse recipe) turned out quite well, I am happy to report.
