Yesterday it snowed a lot and we stayed in and
rested. Today there was fresh snow and not a cloud in the sky. We decided to head up over the border into Germany and visit Garmisch-Partenkirchen. We took a cable car up and hiked around the summit. There were many places to stop. We decided to stop at the place that
was flying the Löwenbräu flag. It was a pretty happening place! You can see the photos of all the folks that were hanging out there, taking in the sun on the sun porch, eating, drinking and resting. Many of the folks are still celebrating Fasching - it is approaching its peak this weekend and ends on Wednesday, Ash Wednesday. So some were very colorfully attired, as you can see
from the pics. There was even a little parade of some guys, dressed funnily, making noise and one wearing cowbells on his rear (see photo.)

It was gorgeous up there, we were at 1780 meters and Jim and I enjoyed the hiking trails and the sunshine and fresh air. We had Weisswurst and Sauerkraut at the hut.
On the way back, we stopped at Mittenwald and had coffee in a Konditorei.
We didn't realize that the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany, is at the other end of Garmisch. Next time we go there, we will take the Bergbahn or the cable car up to the top.
