Lautersee und Ferchensee

Another fine day in Tyrol. Jim and I decided to go hiking over the border in Bavaria. Frau Schmidt told me that there was nice hiking around the two small lakes in Mittenwald, so we went there. The two lakes were in a valley, behind some high cliffs, and so we were in the shade a lot. There is quite a temperature difference between being in the sun and in the shade. But it was a lovely walk anyway and we got to know the area around Mittenwald a little better. After our hike, we drove further up into the mountains to a goat farm where they sell goat milk and goat cheese. There we had coffee and tea and bought four kinds of cheese. Goat mozarella, goat cheese with Bärlauch, goat cheese with Steinpilze, and a Bergkäse called Weinkäse (that we assumed was made with wine but apparently is not.) I think it is called wine cheese because it is strongly flavored and supposed to go well with wine. They told us they would sell us unpasturized goat milk but we have to bring our own containers. Next time! The Goat place, called Goas-alm, is in a beautiful broad meadow that is full of sunshine, even in the late afternoon, so it would also be a nice place to hike.
